To say that Macbeth is a bloody butcher is to endorse Malcolm’s final view of Macbeth and his wife-“the dead butcher and his fiend-like queen.” Macbeth killed Duncan; murderers appointed by him killed Ban quo, and the family of Mac Duff. Even then, we should not reduce him to a one-dimensional character–just a criminal/villain; we have gone through his soliloquies and asides from act 1 scene 3 till the very end of the play. We must have noted his divided self, his fears and agonies, the conflict between his “vaulting ambition” and his imaginative conscience. He has caused great sufferings to the people, and yet he himself has no less suffered. His reaction to the news of his partner’s death and the ensuing deliberation on the tragic futility of life–“a tale told by an idiot,” it being “full of sound and fury, signifying nothing”–must be a memorable existentialist commentary. Macbeth is a great poet sadly counterpointed with uncontrollable desire. That is precisely the irony of the Renaissance man, the tragedy of being both “fair and foul.”
Macbeth Is a Butcher because he likes killing for fun and he doesn’t really know why he does it. He was a good person generally but he was just out of his mind. Macbeth can be a nice man but he wants to be a king so i think he’s trying to prove he is a warrior and he will make a great leader so he must be a butcher. If he’s in a argument he will argue a bit then he will just leave them to shout at him like with Lady Macbeth and Macbeth. He doesn’t like seen dirty or with blood on his hand it seemed to him like he done something wrong but inside he was doing it to have a role and be bold to everyone that he was a warrior. He gets pushed around by Macbeth a lot and he tries to think up an excuse to make her stop talking but it never works out for him. Macbeth is a butcher for several reasons and he has a feeling if he shows no fear he will be king but he is a bit paranoid about people Snitching on him.
Macbeth had many noble qualities as well as several tragic flaws. He was a courageous, brave and good nobleman who was haunted by superstition, moral cowardice and an overwhelming ambition. The three points which contribute greatly to Macbeth’s degeneration are the prophecy which was told to him by the witches, Lady Macbeth influenced and manipulated Macbeth’s judgment, and finally Macbeth’s long time ambition which drove his desire to be king. Although he was so far courageous and brave and he is seen as the hero at the beginning of the play, his sky high ambition causes his damnation. And ultimately he becomes a tragic hero.In Macbeth, Macbeth can be seen as a tragic hero based upon this characteristic. He does occupy a high status and, initially, embodies virtue. Here is where Macbeth parts from the typical tragic hero. Macbeth, is eye for an eye is believed, deserved his outcome. His punishment (he is killed) does not exceed his crime (murder).
However, in concordance with Shakespeare opinion, Macbeth isn’t all bad. At first glance, it may seem difficult to find redeeming features in a mass-murdering tyrant. But it’s important to remember that, at the beginning of the play, he is lauded as a great and loyal soldier.Macbeth is very complicated, which makes it difficult to arrive at a definite decision about how much he is to blame. At the start of the play Macbeth is held in high regard by many people. An example of this is when a sergeant from the army describes his as ? For brave Macbeth – well he deserves that name? He is also thought of as a respected cousin by the king who calls him ? O worthiest cousin? , this shows us that Macbeth was valued by many people as the Thane of Glamis also he could have killed the people he hated which he did but he left some out.
A Shakespearean tragic hero is defined as ‘an exceptional being of high degree’ whom has a fatal flaw. Macbeth’s character is a classic example of a Shakespearean tragic hero. In many of Shakespeare’s tragedies, the main character starts off as a very brave, heroic person whom everyone praises. However as time passes by, the character loses his reputation because he faces a moral dilemma. He also loses reputation due to his fatal flaw.
In Act 1 Scene 2, we know that Macbeth is the main character, because of his brave actions in the battle. A tragic hero’s exceptional nature generally raises him above the average level of humanity. In my opinion, Macbeth is represented as a tragic hero. Macbeth’s characger is a classic example of a Shakespearean tragic hero. In many of Shakespeare’s tragedies, the main character starts off as a very brave, heroic person whom everyone praises.

I’m not sure this is all of your work Luca…
I’ll accept it if you can explain to me what “a memorable existentialist commentary” is?
